- Promotes a survivor-centered, trauma-informed, evidence-based, practice-based approach to anti-trafficking efforts.
Our History
Founded in 2013, HEAL (Health, Education, Advocacy, Leadership) Trafficking is the leading non-governmental authority on human trafficking as a health issue. A group of powerhouse physicians came together with the belief that health systems and professionals, if trained to recognize human trafficking and provide help, could be a powerful force in addressing human trafficking globally. The HEAL co-founders had two primary goals: to create a movement that approached human trafficking as a public health issue rather than solely a criminal justice issue and to equip healthcare professionals and systems to effectively respond to trafficking.
Over the years, HEAL Trafficking has ignited a healthcare-focused anti-trafficking movement. Our impact has been made possible by the generous support of our donors and the incredible efforts of our allies across the globe. Today, HEAL Trafficking continues to lead innovative health solutions to eradicate human trafficking in communities worldwide.
Our Approach
HEAL Trafficking integrates four key areas to address human trafficking:
- Health: Empowering healthcare professionals to identify and support trafficking survivors through evidence-based tools and training.
- Education: Providing comprehensive training programs to increase the identification and support of trafficking survivors.
- Advocacy: Influencing policies and collaborating with industry leaders to create systemic changes that support survivors and prevent trafficking.
- Leadership: Building strong, collaborative networks to create a coordinated response to human trafficking.
