Who We Are: Health care providers improving care for trafficking survivors by advancing our understanding of the intersection of mental health and health care for this population.
Mission: Bring a greater understanding of mental health issues to health care for trafficking survivors.
Objectives:
-Engage in topic-based discussions on the psychological issues facing trafficking survivors and their relevance within health care.
-Bring mental health focused trainings and resources to direct service providers.
-Offer consultation from mental health providers and survivor leaders to build more trauma/attachment informed care for survivors of human trafficking.
HEAL Trafficking’s Mental Health Council is chaired by Dr. Elise Hopper, PhD. and Dr. Katherine Hargitt, PsyD.
Elise Hopper, PhD.
Elizabeth Hopper, Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist with a specialization in traumatic stress. She is a staff psychologist, supervisor, and member of the Training Faculty at the Trauma Center at Justice Resource Institute, one of the nation’s leading agencies
Katherine Hargitt
Katherine Hargitt, PsyD, is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who works with trauma survivors and service providers, and specializes in the psychosocial care, recovery, and re/integration of survivors of sexual exploitation and trafficking.
