Lauren Frey
Lauren Frey is currently a Foreign Affairs Officer for the U.S. Department of States’ Office to Monitor and Combat Trafficking in Persons (TIP Office). She works on the International Programs Team and oversees the management of TIP Office foreign assistance funding in Europe and Central Asia. Previously, she worked as a Program Advisor on the Program to End Modern Slavery Team and managed projects focused on research an implementation with the goal of reducing the prevalence of human trafficking. To date, Lauren has overseen a total of over $28 million in U.S. foreign assistance. Prior to joining the TIP Office, Lauren was the Brooklyn Human Trafficking Task Force Coordinator for the Kings County District Attorney’s Office. There, she developed strategies to increase identification of victims, supported local and federal investigations, and served as a liaison between service providers, law enforcement, government agencies, and advocacy groups. Lauren was also an Associate Research Analyst at the Center for Naval Analysis where she supported research on counter terrorism, transnational criminal networks (including those involved in human trafficking), violence reduction strategies, and community policing. Lauren has published articles in The National Interest and the Journal of Terrorism Research. Lauren Received her MA degree from the University of Denver’s Josef Korbel School of International Studies in International Human Rights with a certificate in Homeland Security and her BS in Criminology from the University of Tampa.
